  1. When is this from? Dick Higgins & Alison Knowles were using computers to compose poetry in the early 1970s – Higgins’s The Book of Love & War & Death used a FORTRAN (?) program to scramble the lines . . .

  2. I think, but am not positive, that it’s from his ST/4 string quartet, from about 1960. I clipped it from the booklet for the nice chamber music collection on Montaigne.

  3. This is from the book ‘Formalized Music: Thought And Mathematics In Composition’ by Iannis Xenakis. I don’t remember which composition this is for though. And yes, that is Fortran code.
